Noted author and foreign policy analyst Phyllis Bennis, the director of the New Internationalism Project at the Institute for Policy Studies and author of about a dozen books, will visit the Pacific Northwest in early February 2016.  United for Peace of Pierce County is proud to co-sponsor a talk by Bennis on Thurs., Feb. 4, at 7:00 p.m. at the University Place Library.

Bennis recently published Understanding ISIS and the New Global War on Terror: A Primer (Olive Branch Press, July 2015).  Richard Falk wrote:  "With her customary lucidity and talent for judicious interpretation, Phyllis Bennis provides an authoritative introduction to all that is now known about ISIS.  It is more than a 'primer,' offering an indispensable account of the complex turmoil afflicting the Middle East."

Bennis appears frequently on CNN, the PBS News Hour, MSNBC, Democracy Now on Pacifica Radio, the BBC, and NPR, and has contributed articles to The Nation, the Baltimore Sun, New York Newsday, the Christian Science Monitor, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and USA Today, as well as in such publications as Znet, Electronic Intifada, From Occupied Palestine, Counterpunch, Palestine Monitor, and Tom Paine.  Most recently, she has been a frequent contributor to Al-Jazeera.
