On Friday, May 15, 2009, UFPPC presents another event in its 2008-2009 Speaker Series. Richard Becker will address the subject of "The Deepening Economic Crisis: Causes, Effects, Solutions."

Becker is the Western Regional Coordinator of the International A.N.S.W.E.R. [Act Now to Stop War and End Racism] Coalition and member of its National Steering Committee. A.N.S.W.E.R. has organized a number of mass protests against the war in Iraq between 2002 and 2008.

Richard Becker first visited the Middle East in 1986 and has returned many times. He has co-authored several books and produced two documentaries.

Becker is a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, a Marxist political party. (UFPPC, of course, is a non-partisan organization and is committed to non-violence.)
