Tickets are available by calling 253-573-1504 for $15 each. Sales are limited to 25; this is an intimate gathering in a home.
This is a fundraiser for United for Peace of Pierce County of Tacoma to be used for educational purposes.
The speaker will be Dr. David Gilmore, instructor of philosophy at Tacoma Community College.
He earned his Ph.D. in the classics from the University of Washington, and subsequently a masters in library sciences.
His topic will be art as it relates to politics and social change. He will address further how to create an "ART" of resistance in the face of media control, and to wake up the zombies. Discussion will follow with refreshments including wine and hors d'ouevres.
Dr. Mark Jensen, associate professor of French at PLU, will also speak on the history and social significance of the salon.
Concert artist Rick Ruskin, acoustic finger-style guitarist will be featured. He has studied delta-style blues guitar under Reverend Gary Davis and has toured and performed as arranger for Olivia Newton-John, among other luminaries of popular music.
