[From Annie Phillips]
Hello, Peace Network! Sorry for cross-postings.
Many of us know the energetic, bright, warm and charming activist Elizabeth Brant who's been active with the Southend Neighbors for Peace and SNOW from our beginnings. Elizabeth is still recovering from brain damage suffered in a car accident the end of 2003, in which she was hit by an uninsured motorist. Her recovery involves expensive, lengthy neurological rehabilitation therapy at Virginia Mason, with twice-weekly sessions there. She is making progress, and we want to assure the full return of her functionality by helping her complete her therapy.
Elizabeth's friends have raised more than 2/3 of the cost (around $40,000) through garage sales, bake sales, and direct requests for money. This is the only way Elizabeth, a single person with limited health insurance, can pay for her recovery. We are very close to our goal, and just need one big successful event to put us over the top.
Now here's an opportunity we can all enjoy participating in: an auction June 4 at the lovely Kirkland home of Gerri and Bob Haines, with scrumptious catered finger foods and wine, thanks to Gerri, a professional auctioneer (Kelly Lee) who's donating his services, background music by harpist Patty Brown Warden, and some exciting items such as
--overnight trip for 2 to Victoria BC on Kenmore Air
--Calypso Trek Bike
--Rounds of Golf at High Cedars
--Handmade Tibetan Rug
--Native American drum
--A night at the Soundview Bed & Breakfast
--Professional Services such as massage and spa treatments....
$10 suggested donation at the door.
100% of all proceeds go to the EK Brant Rehab Fund.
Come June 4 at 4:00 for the silent auction, nibbling, sipping, and socializing.
Live auction from 5:30 to 6:00.
