DIGGING DEEPER THROWS IN THE SHOVEL

Regretfully, I've decided to bring to an end the weekly Monday evening book discussions known as "Digging Deeper" -- not because of any shortage of important, interesting books to read and discuss, but because "time's winged chariot" makes me feel a need to devote more of my energy to a long neglected scholarly project (translating a number of works by Paul Bénichou). 

Thanks to United for Peace of Pierce County (WA) for sponsoring the group from the beginning.  Thanks to the owners and personnel of the Mandolin Café, which gave us somewhere to meet.  Thanks to all who attended the group in the course of the almost seven years of its existence.  (The first book discussed was American Dynasty: Aristocracy, Fortune, and the Politics of Deceit in the House of Bush [Viking, 2004], on July 12, 2004.)  And thanks to the people who have supported the group over the years in various ways.  You've been an unfailing source of inspiration, encouragement, and enlightenment in this discouraging, dispiriting, and dark era.
