This poem, entitled "How Bright It Is," was written by Brian Turner and appears on page 35 of his prize-winning collection Here, Bullet (Alice James Books, 2005).[1]  --  Turner served seven years in the U.S. Army, and was an infantry team leader for a year in Iraq with the 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, the unit based at Fort Lewis that is regularly in the news in Pierce County....

This one-hour video effectively juxtaposes music and images with the words of Arundhati Roy.[1]  --  "Never again will a single story be told as if it is the only one," she says.  --  "[My writing] is really about power, about the paranoia and ruthlessness of power, about the physics of power. I believe that the accumulation of vast, unfettered power by a state or a country, a corporation or an institution, or even an individual, a spouse, a friend, a sibling, results in excess such as the ones I will recount here." ...
