On Sun., Oct. 20, on the eve of the trial of a group of nuclear resisters that includes Father Bill Bichsel, Ray McGovern will speak at a Festival of Hope held at St. Leo's in Tacoma.[1]  --  Ray McGovern. a 73-year-old former CIA officer who has spoken before in Tacoma at a talk co-sponsored by UFPPC that won a standing ovation, is just back from Russia where he participated in an award ceremony for NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.  --  McGovern worked for the CIA for 27 years, won the Intelligence Commendation Medal, and prepared the president’s daily intel briefing in the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations.  --  A Roman Catholic, McGovern has been an active opponent of U.S. policies, including torture, since the U.S. invasion of Iraq.  --  He will be joined by David Price, an anthropologist teaching at St. Martin's in Lacey, who has also been a UFPPC speaker in the past.  --  This event is free and open to the public....

Brian Gunn, who ran as the Democratic candidate in the 2012 District 31a election for the Wash.
