1. [E-mail] JOE LA SAC ARRESTED AT RNC By *** September 2, 2008
Our intrepid videographer Joe La Sac is under arrest. When I reached the jail this morning at about 12:10 a.m., they explained he was arrested under Probable Cause of Rioting. This is ridiculous, and they are using felony charges to intimidate people (and poor journalists like Joe)! His footage has helped expose police violence in PMR [port militarization resistance] actions. Now it's our turn to demand he be released. According to the jail, the earliest he will be released is Wednesday. This is unacceptable. Ramsey County Jail phone # 651 266 9350. Press 1 and 1 again to get to a real person rather than a machine. Joe was working with SubMedia and his arrest is mentioned in the latest dispatch: http://submedia.tv/stimulator/2008/09/01/rnc-dispatch-3/ 2. [E-mail] WHO TO CALL AND WHAT TO SAY By *** September 2, 2008
I know it's bad form to reply to my own post, BUT... There are more useful numbers regarding supporting Joe in jail: Please show your support and solidarity by calling the jail at 651.266.9350 and demand that people are given proper medical attention, are given access to their medication, and are not separated from the larger group! Also, demand that arrestees’ charges are dropped and that they are released immediately! You can also call the Ramsey County Sheriff’s office at 651.487.5149 or the St. Paul Mayor’s office at 651.266.8510, as well your city council member, state representatives, etc. From: http://coldsnaplegal.wordpress.com/2008/09/01/arrestee-updates/ |
