Salon Invitation

UFPPC's Salon Society Second Sunday Series will begin a third season October 14, 2007, and the general public is welcome. Sunday's salon will be held at the home of Marilyn Kimmerling at 4414 N. 34th in Tacoma, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

A performance on banjo, ukelele, washboard, and double bass will begin shortly after guests arrive.  The band, "1928" will be playing a variety of tin-pan-alley tunes with vocals from the turn of the century era.

Informal interaction will follow with refreshments, including wine and hors d'oeuvres.

PLU English instructor Jason Skipper will lead a discussion on the life, works, and legacy of Kurt Vonnegut, who died in April 2007.  Participants are encouraged to bring a favorite quote from Vonnegut to share aloud.

While this is open to the public, it's an intimate gathering in a private home so seating is limited. Tickets which cost $15.00 may be purchased at the door on the day of the event.

This is a fundraiser for United for Peace of Pierce County, whose mission is to nonviolently oppose reliance on pre-emptive unilateral military actions rather than cooperative diplomacy. The funds are to be used for educational purposes.
