ELIZABETH DE LA VEGA BOOK READING

Elizabeth de la Vega will read from her book U.S. v. George W. Bush et al. (Seven Stories Press, 2006).  The book is a hypothetical grand jury presentation that allows the reader to evaluate the Bush administration’s use of prewar intelligence in light of the applicable law from the perspective of an actual grand juror.

Elizabeth de la Vega was an Assistant United States Attorney for 21 years — both in Minneapolis and San Jose.  She was a member of the Organized Crime Strike Force and Chief of the San Jose Branch of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California.  After taking an early retirement in 2004, she has been writing about political and legal issues for various publications, including The Nation, TomDispatch, Salon, Mother Jones and the L.A. Times. The event is co-sponsored by United for Peace of Pierce County and People for Peace, Justice and Healing.
