The port militarization resistance movement will hold an art vigil in the Port of Tacoma Tuesday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.[1] -- The event is part of the ongoing resistance to use of the port to ship Stryker vehicles to an illegal, immoral, disastrous war that has been rejected by the majority of the American people. -- The event is open for families and community members wishing to send a message of care and concern to soliders in the 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division set to be deployed to Iraq next month. -- Details below....
1. AFTERNOON/EVENING ART VIGIL AT PORT OF TACOMA WHAT: Afternoon/evening art vigil at the Port of Tacoma WHO: Various musical & spoken word performers WHEN: Tuesday, March 13 -- 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. WHERE: East 11th St. and Thorne Rd., Port of Tacoma, WA Carpools leave Olympia at Harrison and Division at 3:15 p.m. This event is open for families and community members to send a message to the Fourth Stryker Brigade who will be deploying in Iraq that we want to keep them home. We will be in view while the ship is loading and encouraged by the continued support of soldiers signaling us there support. Come write letters to soldiers who are deploying and create art that expresses our opposition to the illegal war. There will be music and an open mic, chalk for street drawings, and sign making material. Please bring poster board, paints, paper and all kinds of art supplies. Also needed is music and writings to share about our opposition to this war. The loading of the ship is nearing completion and the Strykers will soon be shipping out.
