The first detainees have arrived at the controversial Homeland Security prison owned and operated by Correctional Services Corporation on the Tacoma Tideflats (1623 East "J" St., half a mile north of Johnny's Dock Restaurant on the Thea Foss Waterway). Tim Smith of BORDC-Tacoma, who has been leading the fight to oppose this prison (known as the "Northwest Detention Center"), or jail, or, as Tim calls it, camp, has announced that a vigil will be held at the fire hydrant near the prison at from 10:15 p.m. tonight (Sat., Apr. 24) until about 11:00 p.m. Bring a candle or a strong flashlight to signify the light that shines in the darkness even though the darkness knows it not -- the light of human rights, human freedom, and the human spirit. Tim's message follows....
NORTHWEST DETENTION CENTER OCCUPIED

All,
Some time between 2300 yesterday, the 23rd, and this morning at 0900, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents along with CSC transportation security guards moved an unkown number of detainees from an unknown location into the Northwest Detention Center.
We are working on the details.
Thanks to all of you that came to the clean-up. The site is looking good and it was nice to have you there during our chat with the ICE Officer and others. Thanks for your citizenship.
There will be a vigil tonight from 2215 until at least 2300 at the Fire Hydrant. Bring a candle or a large flashlight. There will be many stars and a very nice moon. The struggle continues for justice and responsibility. The best is yet to come.
Yours in Liberty,
Tim
